Tenant Maintenance & Repair Responsibilities

Tenants are expected to maintain the property in a “tenant-like manner,” meaning you are responsible for minor upkeep and routine maintenance such as:

Unblocking toilets and sinks
Thawing frozen pipes
Repairing broken glass to windows and doors
Maintaining gardens and lawns
Keeping drains and pipes clear
Bleeding radiators and checking boiler pressure
Gaining entry if locked out (e.g. locksmith costs)
Replacing locks when keys are lost (provide DPS a spare key)
Replacing light bulbs, batteries, and fuses (including smoke alarms)
